2026 Placement Application Interactivity Description
Oh boy, the Future Turtles! You know us, right? We’re that camp with the blockbuster dance parties with hundreds of burners and amazing techno DJs. The camp that just won’t stop – famous for the 18 hour mud party in the 2023 storm, we hosted THREE (count them) THREE big parties in 2025 despite rain, wind, hurricanes, I’m told there were also locusts? but we were too busy rebuilding our pavilion for the third time to notice.
So; a bunch of big parties again, right?
(sound of record needle scratching)
Uh… nope! The Turtles are going to do something completely different in 2026.
Never satisfied to rest on our laurels, we’re ripping up the program and starting from scratch with something quiet, personal, and more conversational.
For 2026, we’re opening The Future Turtles Café.
The Future Turtles Café is a shaded area with a counter and about 10 cozy tables open to the public 24x7. Behind the counter, Future Turtles will appear in costumes with a retro-futurism theme. Counter service will be open every afternoon providing cold drinks, usually non-alcoholic, with something different but interesting every day.
Most days, there will be additional one-off activities in the café brought by individual campers: things like board games, directed conversations, and something that launched last year: Gay Watch, a themed sunscreen station evocative of a certain southern California beach TV show. Some will be scheduled; some will be spontaneous.
Most evenings, we’ll have a burn barrel. You may find hot coffee or even warm snacks but you’ll certainly find delightful company and conversations that go into the wee hours.
Oh yeah, and there’s a bonus, our 69’ wide LED artwork, Now With Video Game™, runs all night.
As usual our two observation decks (on top of shipping containers) are a 24x7 way to climb up and take in the view.
Changes
**Fewer massive parties! These were popular, but we hate to rest on our laurels. The only scheduled big party will be the opening night ceremony (Saturday).
**New café! Front and center, the Future Turtles Café offers cold drinks every afternoon, quiet conversational activities, and a shady place to rest.
**That game! Remember our 69’ wide LED art thing? It’s back, but now with an incredibly annoying video game.
